Rep: Lady Gaga will not star in Dionne Warwick biopic

Lady Gaga will not star as British singer Cilla Black in a biopic picture centered around Dionne Warwick, a representative for Lady Gaga tells USA TODAY.

Media outlets such as the BBC reported that Dionne Warwick announced Gaga's casting at a press conference on Friday from the Carlton Hotel, near the Cannes International Film Festival. The report has been picked up around the world.

But Gaga press representative Amanda Silverman said in a statement to USA TODAY: “Lady Gaga is not attached and will not appear in this project. Reports of Gaga starring in this project are false.”

The BBC reported that Black, who died in 2015 at aged 72, was Warwick's "nemesis" for many years, after Black's version of Anyone Who Had a Heart eclipsed Warwick's original.
