Rapper MC Supreme killed in CA car crash

MALIBU, Calif. (AP) — Rapper MC Supreme, best known for his 1990 single Black In America, has died in a car crash in Malibu.

The Los Angeles County coroner's officials said Dewayne Coleman, 47, was killed Saturday when a pickup truck slammed into a car he was sitting in while parked on the shoulder of sometimes-treacherous Pacific Coast Highway.

Coleman was pronounced dead at the scene; a woman passenger in his car was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.

The crash was near where Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce Jenner, was involved in a multi-car collision on PCH in Malibu that killed one woman earlier this year, according to TMZ.

The collision also took place a week before a report on traffic dangers on PCH is due to be presented to the Malibu City Council.

The highway, also known as California Route 1, hugs most of the coast of California, affording spectacular views in some areas but traffic nightmares in more crowded communities such as Malibu.

Coleman released Black In America on the compilation album We're All In the Same Gang. It featured the hit anti-violence song that shares the album's name by the West Coast Rap All-Stars.

Coleman's sister, Irene, told City News Service her brother was dedicated to working with young people and steering them from gangs.

The pickup driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
