Lily Tomlin marries partner of 42 years

Wedding bells rang for comedian/actress Lily Tomlin over the holidays.

And they were long overdue.

After more than four decades together, Tomlin, 74, married Jane Wagner, 78, in a private New Year's Eve ceremony, reports People.

"They're very happy," said Tomlin's rep, Jennifer Allen.

Columnist Liz Smith, 90, broke the news of the wedding, writing: "My wish is that their happiness will be as great as their combined talents."

Tomlin, known for appearances on Laugh-In, Murphy Brown and The West Wing, also has starred in films including 9 to 5 and All of Me.

Wagner was writer of Tomlin's Tony-winning one-woman show The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe, and wrote the screenplay for her movie The Incredible Shrinking Woman.
