Flu forces Tony Bennett to cancel U.K. concert

The flu overtook Tony Bennett on Tuesday, forcing him to cancel his show in London with Lady Gaga.

It was the second of two sold-out shows in the U.K. for the duo's Cheek to Cheek tour. The previous night, Prince Harry and Elton John popped by backstage to wish them well.

"Sorry to not be singing in London tonight. I love my fans in the UK and appreciate all the well wishes to get over this flu quickly," tweeted Bennett, 88, after the news dropped.

He did not, as was reported by some earlier in the day, collapse, says his rep, Sylvia Weiner. A message was also sent to fans from Bennett's Facebook page.

It read: "Tony Bennett is known for never canceling a show, so it was a rare occurrence that, due to a flu virus, he was not able to perform the second of two sold-out shows with Lady Gaga at the Royal Albert Hall in London this evening." Fans were instructed to retain their tickets until more information is available.

Gaga also reassured fans the jazz legend would be just fine.

This year, Gaga and Bennett won a Grammy this year for their collaborative album, Cheek to Cheek. Their next show is scheduled for Saturday in Paradise Island, Bahamas. They will perform four shows at New York City's Radio City Music Hall later this month.
