Robert Carradine survives bad car wreck

It may be nerdy to wear seatbelts but they work, as King of the Nerds host Robert Carradine and his wife discovered last week in a head-on car wreck in Colorado.
Colorado papers reported Thursday that Carradine and his wife, Edith, survived what might have been a fatal collision but for their seatbelts, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
"The fact that they were wearing seatbelts is why they are with us today," Sgt. James Saunders told The Cortez Journal.
The collision happened a week ago on Highway 145 near Dolores, Colo, after Carradine's car drove into oncoming traffic and collided with a semi-truck.
The Durango Herald's tweeted picture showed the extent of the damage to his car.
It's not clear why the crash happened; neither speed nor alcohol were involved, Saunders said.
The couple were transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Carradine was ticketed for careless driving on a lane violation.
A publicist for Carradine, 60, did not respond to an email inquiry. By Thursday, Carradine seemed recovered enough to tweet.
Carradine has a long list of film and TV credits but may be best known for his role as a fraternity president in the 1984 film Revenge of the Nerds. He now hosts King of the Nerds, a TV game show that tests contestants' intelligence.
Carradine, 60, is the youngest of the Carradine family of actors, including his father John Carradine, his brother, veteran actor Keith Carradine, and his late brother, David Carradine, of the Kung Fu movies.
