A vague social media post from GFuel this week sparked concern that the brand, beloved by the gaming community, was shuttering. But turns out, the company was just announcing a new formula.

"After years of shaking things up, fueling the grind and rewriting the rules, it's the end of an era," GFuel wrote in an X post on Sept. 2. "It's been an incredible journey being able to build alongside creators, gamers, streamers and a community that became family. So, to everyone who's been a part of it, thank you, we love you."

Days later, the energy drink brand gave more insight, announcing the launch of Formula 2.0, a new energy drink formula made with cleaner ingredients and more antioxidants.

"We said the end of an era, not the end of GFuel," the brand wrote in an X post on Sept. 4.

The new formulation isn't GFuel's only announcement. The brand is also collaborating with YouTuber PewDiePie to release new lingonberry-flavored energy drinks and powder. A PewDiePie collector's box features a 40-serving Lingonberry Energy Tub, GFuel PewDiePie t-shirt, and a custom-designed collector's box, according to a GFuel news release. As of Sept. 5, the collector's box was not available for purchase on the GFuel website. Lingonberry energy drink cans, powders, and bars can also be purchased individually.

Here's what to know about GFuel's new Formula 2.0.

What is happening with GFuel?

The new formula also includes L-theanine, a non-protein amino acid primarily found in green and black tea and some mushrooms, Healthline states. L-theanine is said to relieve anxiety and stress and reduce insomnia.

Formula 2.0 includes more antioxidants, too – about 26 milligrams more, to be exact.

GFuel announced its new Formula 2.0 on Sept. 4, 2025. The new energy drink powder features cleaner ingredients, adding L-theanine and more antioxidants than former formulas.

What is the difference between GFuel's old and new formulas?
