If next-day wasn't enough, Amazon is debuting a new delivery service that will get packages to customers in 30 minutes or less.

The new service, called Amazon Now, offers deliveries in 30 minutes or less to customers in Seattle, Washington and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, according to an announcement on Monday, Dec 1. Thousands of items are eligible for delivery, including groceries, cosmetics, pet food, paper products, electronics, over-the-counter medicine and seasonal items.

Amazon Prime members reap the reward of a $3.99 delivery fee per order, while non-members pay a $13.99 delivery fee, according to the news release. A basket fee of $1.99 is added to all orders under $15.

Here's what to know about the new Amazon Now.

Where will Amazon 30-minute delivery be available?

At launch, Amazon Now will be available to Amazon Prime customers in Seattle and Philadelphia.

How does Amazon's 30-minute delivery work?

On the Amazon mobile app or website, customers in Seattle and Philadelphia can check if "30-Minute Delivery" is available in their area.

Amazon Now relies on smaller, specialized facilities designed for "efficient order fulfillment," according to the Amazon news release. These facilities are located directly in Seattle and Philadelphia.

"This approach prioritizes the safety of employees picking and packing orders, reduces the distance delivery partners need to travel, and enables faster delivery times," the news release states.
