These chargers are being recalled. The risk? They could explode.
Saleen MartinOver 13,000 wireless phone chargers sold at T.J. Maxx and Marshalls have been recalled due to an explosion risk.
“The chargers can explode while in use, posing a fire and burn hazard,” TJX, Massachusetts-based owner of T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, shared on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website.
The company sold the Isla Rae magnetic wireless chargers for $15 between June 2024 and November 2025, the notice read.
According to the company, 13,200 of the chargers sold in the U.S. have been recalled, while 7,000 chargers were sold in Canada.
The chargers attach magnetically to the backs of phones, charging them, and were sold in white, pink, and purple. The chargers were manufactured in China, and Hello to Green or Press Play Products of Bell, California imported them.
The chargers’ model no. is RM5PBM, and the recall no. is 26-179. There have been no reported injuries or incidents as of early January 2025.
What should I do if I have the recalled charger?
TJX said in its recall announcement that customers who have the chargers should stop using them, go to www.recallrtr.com/powerbank to register for the recall, and follow the instructions to get a full refund.
Lithium-ion batteries like the recalled chargers should not be thrown in the trash with regular items because they could lead to fires, the company said. Customers who need to get rid of their chargers should check with their municipal household hazardous waste collection center.
