Thousands of bicycle helmets sold at Walmart have been recalled due to significant safety concerns.

According to a Feb. 26 warning from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, more than 40,000 Concord-branded helmets are subject to the recall for failing to meet mandatory safety standards. The helmets may fail to adequately protect bikers during an accident, risking serious head injury or death.

The helmets, manufactured in China, were sold at Walmart stores nationwide and online at Walmart.com from January 2025 to September 2025 for about $30, according to the CPSC.

What helmets were recalled?

About 40,245 Concord-branded 360 Degree Rechargeable Light-Up bike helmets in size large are subject to the recall, according to CPSC. The helmets are black with black straps, a black buckle and a black plastic knob at the back for adjustments. They include built-in LED lighting systems and "Concord" printed on the back.

What to do if you have a recalled helmet

Consumers who own the recalled helmets should stop using them immediately and contact the manufacturer, Todson, for a full refund at [email protected]. To receive the refund, consumers must send a picture of their helmet with the straps cut as proof that it was destroyed.

Consumers should not throw the helmets in the trash because they use a lithium-ion battery, CPSC said. These types of batteries have a high fire risk and require proper disposal.
