Hundreds of thousands of power steamers have been recalled due to potential burn risks to their users, safety officials said in a recall notice.

According to a March 19 notice posted on the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website, the recall affects about 700,000 Wagner 900 Series Power Steamers. The issue centers on the steamer's hose, which officials say could become excessively hot and discharge hot water through the nozzle/gun during and after use.

Officials said that there have been at least 156 incidents reported involving the “hose getting too hot or the nozzle/gun expelling hot water.” Among the reports, 50 of them include burn injuries to users' arms, hands, feet and face.

Many of those cases resulted in first- or second-degree burns, according to the CPSC.

What steamer models are being recalled?

According to the CPSC, the following Wagner 900 Series Power Steamers are being recalled:

• 905e Auto Steamer
• 915e On-Demand Power Steamer
• 925e Steam Machine Elite Steamer

“All steamer models contain the same base steamer but include different accessories. The steamers include a yellow and black pressurized boiler base with ‘Wagner’ written on the sides of the product,” according to the notice.

What should I do if I have the steamer?

Consumers who own the recalled steamer are asked to stop using it immediately and contact Wagner for a free repair kit, which includes a hose sleeve, nozzle cover and funnel.
