This company sells menstrual cycle-synced drinks. Here's what they do

May 18, 2026, 4:56 p.m. ET

In September 2025, a California start-up launched a beverage line for menstrual cycles and menopause, which has now expanded into stores across the United States.

The Cycle is the world's first ready-to-drink beverage brand made for periods, perimenopause and menopause, the company claims in a news release.

The brand's lineup of drinks includes four phase-specific beverages: Pre-Period Comfort and Period Comfort. The menopause drinks are Peri Comfort and Meno Comfort.

The drinks are being sold at Sprouts Farmers Market's 410 stores nationwide.

A line of menstrual drinks called The Cycle has hit U.S. shelves

The drinks are also sold at smaller chains and independent stores, including Lazy Acres, Rainbow Acres and Happier Grocery in New York City.

Additionally, consumers can purchase the drinks directly on the company's website. They range in price from $4.99 to $5.99 per 12-ounce can.

Here's what to know about the beverage line, and what experts are saying about cycle-synced drinks.

What do the beverages consist of?

Each drink has a base of sea buckthorn, a natural source of omega-7, the company says. Sea buckthorn, a large and thorny shrub or small tree, is also known for its bright orange, edible berries and silvery-green leaves, according to the Montana Fruit Tree Company, a Montana-based fruit tree grower and seller.

The plant is famous for having the highest natural concentration of omega-7, according to a 2019 study from Spanish researchers.

The drinks are non-sparkling, caffeine-free, zero-sugar and contain no artificial colors, sweeteners or preservatives.

Breakdown of each beverage

Here's the beverage lineup, with descriptions provided by the company.

  • Pre-Period Comfort. A softly sweet, fruit-forward blend to sip during the luteal phase (the two weeks before your period). Features chaste berry, cramp bark, shatavari root, dandelion root and ginger.
  • Period Comfort. A bright, tropical blend designed to feel grounding and nourishing during menstruation. Features nettle leaf (with naturally occurring iron), raspberry leaf, lemon balm and motherwort.
  • Peri Comfort. Daily support through the shifts of perimenopause. Features black cohosh, maca root, motherwort, inositol and nettle leaf.
  • Meno Comfort. An everyday ritual for menopause. Features sage, hops flower, lemon balm, turmeric and glycine.

What research says about the drinks

Dr. Cassandra Simmons, chief of general obstetrics and gynecology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, said in an emailed statement that emerging data support the use of safe supplements during the premenstrual phase, pregnancy, postpartum and perimenopause.

Omega-7s are extremely beneficial, she said, and can help balance hormones, while vitamin C has similar effects.

Additionally, Shatavari root and Dandelion root, present in the brand's pre-period comfort drink, have beneficial properties, she said.

About 600 to 800 milligrams of Shatavari root per day can be used to improve hormonal balance. Similar doses can also help manage menopausal symptoms, including hot flashes or night sweats. Dandelion root can help patients experiencing constipation or bloating during hormonal transitions, Simmons said.

"We don't drink drinks for pleasure anymore," Anastasia Sarta, the founder of The Cycle, told USA TODAY. "We expect some functionality."
