Vice Media, the media company that has evolved from magazine publishing to video and online news targeting young viewers, said Thursday it has sold minority stakes to new partners that give Vice a valuation of about $2.5 billion.

Technology Crossover Ventures, a Silicon Valley-based investment firm, bought a 10% stake in the company for $250 million.

A+E Networks, a cable network that is a joint venture between Hearst and Disney, also bought a 10% stake for $250 million.

Vice said the funds will be used to expand content offerings across digital and mobile devices and TV, as well expanding its presence worldwide.
