Wendy's bringing back popular dipping sauce. See returning condiment.
Saleen MartinBBQ, honey mustard and ranch move out of the way, because a fan-favorite dipping sauce is back at Wendy's.
Wendy’s lovers are rejoicing now that the fast food chain is bringing back its sweet and sour sauce following an uproar after its discontinuation.
In a statement to USA TODAY, Wendy's said it has seen "the hundreds of comments" across social media, and the company wants to make it right by bringing the sauce back in 2026.
The sauce’s return comes after Wendy’s worked with London-based research company Savanta to survey 1,000 Americans who eat chicken tenders, strips or nuggets. According to the survey results, 77% of the respondents said sauce "makes the meal," and nine in 10 Americans use dipping sauces.
Wendy’s credited the content creator @justjazzzyidk, also known as Jaz, with campaigning to get the sauce back as well. Jaz first posted about the sauce’s discontinuation on Oct. 9 to let social media users know how she found out.
In the video, she said she was trying to order Wendy’s and noticed the sweet and sour sauce was no longer listed. According to her, the video was her "plea for Wendy's to bring back sweet and sour."
This week, she shared good news about the sauce's return.
"No dream is ever too big," Jaz said Dec. 16 in a TikTok video. "You guys, we did it … I had a call with Wendy’s and they agree that the sauce does need to come back. It will take some time to bring back, but there will be some exciting things in the meantime."

TikToker paid for Wendy’s sweet and sour sauce on eBay
Redditors began sharing the news of the popular condiment's disappearance back in September.
"I actually cannot believe that this is happening," one Redditor wrote on Sept. 20. "I’m at a loss for words."
After her initial post in October, Jaz began sharing more updates about the sauce debacle, even joking that she would get on a plane to get Wendy’s if followers could confirm some locations still had it. Her mother even went to three different locations in Tucson, Arizona, to check for her, she said Oct. 19 in a TikTok video.

"You guys don’t understand," Jaz said. "I eat Wendy’s very often, and I’ve tried eating it without sweet and sour. Wendy’s sweet and sour was so special. It was so different. If you like it, you know that nothing else is similar or compares."
Jaz added that she had also worked with Wendy’s previously and had direct messaged them about the sauce, noting that she wouldn’t be surprised ifthe company decided to end their relationship with her due to her being upset about the condiment being discontinued.
By Oct. 23, she’d gotten her hands on some Wendy’s sweet and sour sauce by buying it on eBay, she wrote in the post.
USA TODAY did not receive an answer when it contacted Wendy’s on Thursday, Dec. 18, and asked why its sweet and sour sauce was discontinued in the first place.
TikToker had 'secret stash' of Wendy's sweet and sour sauce
On Nov. 3, Jaz shared a video of herself opening a package from a follower who previously worked at Wendy’s and still knew a current employee. The follower shipped her multiple packs of the sauce. Jaz said in the video that she tried to pay the user, but the person wouldn’t accept.
In a TikTok video shared on Nov. 17, Jaz dipped nuggets into the sweet and sour sauce she received from a follower, comparing it to Wendy's sweet chili sauce, which the company describes as "a sweet and subtly spicy sauce with tang. sriracha, garlic and ginger."
In December, Jaz shared that another follower and Wendy’s employee sent her more sweet and sour sauce, opening a whole box full of the then-discontinued Wendy’s condiment.
Now that the sauce is making a comeback, Jaz said in her Dec. 16 TikTok, "I am so happy I don’t have to rely on my secret stash of sweet and sour anymore."
