Bahama Breeze to close all restaurants

Darden Restaurants announced in a Feb. 3 news release that its Bahama Breeze chain will close.

The Caribbean-themed restaurant has 28 locations in the United States and half will be converted to other Darden brands, the company said. Darden also owns Olive Garden, Yard House, Ruth's Chris Steak House, and Seasons 52, among other restaurants.

“The company believes the conversion locations are great sites that will benefit several of the brands in its portfolio,” Darden said in the release.

Darden had closed one-third of Bahama Breeze locations and sought "strategic alternatives," including a sale of the brand in 2025.

The company did not disclose what brands the converted locations will be turned into. The majority of the restaurants slated for conversion are in Florida, where the brand first opened in the 90s.

The restaurants that will close will cease operations on April 5. Locations that will be changed to other brands will continue to operate until any temporary closures are needed for the conversion, Darden said.

"Going forward, the primary focus will continue to be on supporting team members, including placing as many as possible in roles within the Darden portfolio," the company said in the release.
