Wendy's is revamping its spicy chicken sandwich. See the changes.

Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich is getting some upgrades.

The fast food burger chain announced on March 30 the revamped sandwich is available now at all Wendy's locations in the United States.

The sandwich features a new marinade, a crispy panko-style breading, a new potato bun and a richer mayo. The sandwich also now comes with pickles "for extra crunch and balance," according to Wendy's. For fans who prefer a non-spicy sandwich, the changes have also been applied to the chain's Classic Chicken Sandwich.

Wendy's said in the news release that customers will also see upgrades, such as the new potato bun, across its entire premium sandwich lineup, including the Baconator, Dave's Single, Big Bacon Classic and Asiago Ranch Chicken Club, among other sandwiches.

"The Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich is iconic, and we saw an opportunity to make the best spicy chicken sandwich in the category even better," said Lindsay Radkoski, U.S. Chief Marketing Officer, The Wendy's Company, in a news release.

"After more than a year of testing and listening to consumer feedback, one thing was clear: guests wanted everything they already love, just elevated. This refresh honors the sandwich's legacy while delivering the bold, modern flavor our fans crave."

Wendy's says the new sandwich was put through "extensive consumer focus groups" and "meticulous in-restaurant testing," and that the changes were inspired by "our fans and everything they love about Wendy's signature Spicy Chicken Sandwich."
