If you purchased cookware from Costco, Amazon, or Walmart recently, listen up: More than 700,000 units of the Granitestone Diamond Pro Blue Sauté Pan have been recalled. According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, there’s a small screw that can literally shoot out of the handle if it gets too hot — not quite the experience you want while cooking.
Shoppers who bought the 2-piece pan set are eligible for a full refund (the set sold for about $40), and if you’re looking for a more reliable sauté pan to add to your kitchen, don’t worry: I have strong opinions.
I’ve been writing about products and getting hands-on with my favorite brands in my kitchen for more than seven years. My all-time favorite is All-Clad, whose pans are sturdy, nonstick, easy to clean, and long-lasting. Calphalon is a great budget-friendly alternative, and those celebrity-favorite brands like HexClad and Our Place tend to offer solid choices, too.
Here’s everything you need to know about the recall, as well as which pans I recommend you use instead.
Which pans were recalled?
On April 2, the Granitestone Diamon Pro Blue Sauté Pans were recalled. The affected pans were sold in a 2-pack at Amazon, Walmart, and Costco from August 2021 to February 2026.
What to do if your pan was recalled
If you bought these pans, stop using them immediately. You’re eligible for a full refund; contact the manufacturer through the recall website: https://www.gsrecall.com/.
Sauté pans to buy instead
Need a new sauté pan? There are quite a few stellar brands you can pick up to replace this Granitestone set, including multiple brand-name options under $100.
These are the best sauté pans you can pick up right now, whether you’re dealing with this recall or just want to upgrade your kitchen.
Calphalon Nonstick 8- and 10-inch Fry Pan Set

When it comes to budget, this Calphalon Nonstick Fry Pan Set is closest to the recalled set of pans. But when it comes to quality, Calphalon swirls circles around Granitestone. These pans are lightweight, easy to clean, and hold up surprisingly well over time, given their price.
Personally, I own the 8-inch fry pan from Calphalon, and it hasn’t shown any signs of wear yet (I’m pleasantly shocked, given that I bought it back in 2019). It definitely doesn’t feel as sturdy as my All-Clad pans, but for what I paid and how long it’s lasted, this pan set is a great investment for your kitchen.
$65 at AmazonAll-Clad HA1 Nonstick 8- and 10-inch Fry Pan Set

Nearly every pan in my kitchen comes from All-Clad (more specifically the All-Clad VIP Factory Seconds Sale, my favorite sale of all time that should be on your radar). This two-piece fry pan set is about double the cost of the Granitestone pair, but you'll get your full money's worth.
All-Clad pans are the cream of the crop, offering superior temperature regulation, durability, and ease of use. They’re heavier than other pans, but still easy to move and clean. You can score an 8- and 10-inch fry pan set for $100 at Amazon right now, but I recommend you keep your eyes peeled for a lower price at the VIP Sale.
$100 at AmazonHexClad Fry Pan, 10 inches

If you want to splurge a little on a luxury brand, HexClad offers a 10-inch fry pan that may tick all your boxes. The brand is Gordon Ramsay’s favorite, thanks to its hybrid stainless steel/cast iron/nonstick coating.
This one’s expensive — $149 for a single pan, $169 if you want the lid, too. If you’re going to splurge on a pan, I’d recommend you pick up the whole fry pan set instead. It’s $399 for 8-, 10-, and 12-inch pans, all with lids.
HexClad is sold in stores at Costco, too, so if you want to get hands-on before you buy, you can do so at your local Costco.
$149 at HexCladOur Place Always Pan 2.0

When it first launched, the Our Place Always Pan was the hottest pan on the block. It’s Selena Gomez’s pan of choice, and while it’s past its peak popularity, it’s still an exceptional pan you should consider if you’re upgrading your kitchen.
The Always Pan bills itself as the 10-in-1 pan, one that’s able to replace nearly every other dish in your collection. It can steam, fry, boil, sauté, roast, and even bake. If you live with a small kitchen, it’s a great investment if only to replace cookware you don’t have room for.
$89 at Our PlaceCaraway Fry Pan, 10 inches

I don’t own Caraway’s fry pans, but I do have the brand’s baking set and absolutely love it. They’re extremely chic (you can pick from eight bright colors), easy to clean, and surprisingly lightweight.
Caraway makes its pans without any toxic chemicals you may find on other nonstick pans, so it’s a great choice if you’re building an eco-conscious home.
