In celebration of America's 250th anniversary, Mountain Dew is releasing limited-edition 12-ounce cans and 20-ounce bottles under the name "American Dew." Available through the summer, American Dew also celebrates Mountain Dew's 78th anniversary, with its ties to Tennessee.

"Since 1948, Mountain Dew has been defined by a bold, unapologetic taste born in Tennessee. An American Original – Tasting Great Since ’48 is our tribute to where we started – and to the fans who’ve carried the brand forward for nearly 80 years," Mountain Dew Marketing Vice President Michael Smith said in a news release. "American Dew is a tangible celebration of that story, created to mark this moment in a meaningful way."

American Dew is not a new flavor. The limited-edition drink is just a new branding of Mountain Dew. The flavor of America Dew is still the classic citrus-flavored soft drink consumers know and love.

American Dew launched on April 20. The limited-edition drink is available through the summer.

$250 American Dew giveaway

To coincide with the launch, Mountain Dew is hosting an American Dew giveaway, in which about 3,756 customers can win a $250 Mastercard prepaid card, according to official contest rules.

To enter, customers complete an online registration form on the American Dew website, which must include a photo of the entrant with a Mountain Dew product. Customers can also mail in an entry to American Dew Sweepstakes at PO Box 90365, Nashville, Tennessee 37209, according to the official contest rules. Complete entry requirements are available at americandew.com/rules. The giveaway closes on July 11.

Customers are limited to three entries per day, regardless of online or mail-in methods, according to the official contest rules.
