Wendy's reveals its new spring menu. See what's on it

Spring has sprung at Wendy's.

The fast food chain announced on Thursday, April 23, six new limited-time items that will make up its spring menu and a new Frosty flavor that will join the company's core menu.

All menu items will launch in Wendy's restaurants nationwide beginning Monday, April 27, according to a news release, however customers can get early access to the new Frosty via the Wendy's app starting April 23.

"With spring comes warmer weather and refreshing changes in routines, and we are seeing an appetite for bold flavors that mix comfort and discovery," said Lindsay Radkoski, Chief Marketing Officer at Wendy's, in the news release.

Here are the new items customers can get at Wendy's beginning April 27:

• Cookie Dough Frosty Fusion: Features cookie dough pieces and brownie batter sauce swirled into the iconic Frosty base for a new take on the familiar treat.
• Watermelon Lemonade: An expansion of Wendy's Dave's Craft Lemonade lineup, the drink combines all-natural lemonade with a sweet watermelon puree.
• Watermelon Sparkling Energy: "A bubbly energy boost with notes of fresh fruit and candied watermelon," according to Wendy's. Wendy's Sparkling Energy drinks contain 80-120 mg of caffeine.
• Sprite Watermelon: Combines classic Sprite mixed with a bright watermelon flavor.
• Jalapeño Ranch Cheeseburger: Features beef with creamy jalapeño ranch, jalapeño slices and melted American cheese.
• Jalapeño Bacon Breakfast Potatoes: Jalapeños topping Wendy's seasoned breakfast potatoes, along with three strips of Applewood smoked bacon and Swiss cheese sauce.
• Jalapeño Breakfast Biscuits: Features jalapeños, sausage or bacon, a fresh-cracked egg and American cheese on a buttery biscuit.

Wendy's revamps spicy chicken sandwich

The spring menu drops nearly a month after Wendy's announced upgrades to its spicy chicken sandwich.

The sandwich features a new marinade, a crispy panko-style breading, a new potato bun and a richer mayo. The sandwich also now comes with pickles "for extra crunch and balance," according to Wendy's.

For fans who prefer a non-spicy sandwich, the changes have also been applied to the chain's Classic Chicken Sandwich.

Wendy's said in the news release that customers will also see upgrades, such as the new potato bun, across its entire premium sandwich lineup, including the Baconator, Dave's Single, Big Bacon Classic and Asiago Ranch Chicken Club, among other sandwiches.

Wendy's said the revamped sandwich was put through "extensive consumer focus groups" and "meticulous in-restaurant testing," and that the changes were inspired by "our fans and everything they love about Wendy's signature Spicy Chicken Sandwich."
