More Malaysia jet signals: 'In very deep oceanic waters, nothing happens fast'

A ship detected signals that could be coming from Malaysia Airlines Flight 370's black boxes and is scrambling to find the signals again. A signal was detected for two hours and 20 minutes late Saturday, then for 13 minutes early Sunday, Australian time. No further findings were reported as of Monday night. "In very deep oceanic waters, nothing happens fast," Australian Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston said.

Peaches Geldof, daughter of musician Bob Geldof, found dead at 25

Peaches Honeyblossom Geldof, the daughter of Bob Geldof and the late Paula Yates, has died, according to media reports. Bob Geldof said in a statement to the AP, "We are beyond pain." Peaches, who worked as a writer, model and TV presenter, was married to musician Thomas Cohen. They have two young sons, Astala, who will turn 2 on April 21, and Phaedra, who will turn 1 on April 24.

Army: Fort Hood shooter requested leave before rampage

Investigators say the rampage that left three dead and 16 wounded last week at Fort Hood was related to a request for leave from the Army post by the shooter. Army spokesman Chris Grey did not indicate during a brief news conference Monday whether Spc. Ivan Lopez was granted the leave.

Oscar Pistorius takes the stand: 'I was simply trying to protect Reeva'

Oscar Pistorius began testifying in his murder trial Monday with an apology to the family of Reeva Steenkamp, the girlfriend he shot and killed last year in his home. "There hasn't been a moment since this tragedy happened that I haven't thought about your family," the double-amputee runner said at the trial in Pretoria, South Africa. "I wake up every morning, and you're the first people I think of, the first people I pray for." Pistorius maintains he shot the 29-year-old model accidentally when he fired four shots through a bathroom door at what he thought was an intruder.

In New Zealand, Will and Kate say hello the Maori way

Prince William, Duchess Kate and baby Prince George are in New Zealand today at the start of their three-week tour of Down Under, and one of the first things they did on arrival was perform the traditional Maori greeting gesture, the hongi. It's the equivalent of a handshake, but no hands are involved. Instead, one presses one's nose and forehead directly against another's when first encountered.

Virgin is the No. 1 airline in the USA

When it comes to overall performance, Virgin America remains No. 1. According to an annual survey that evaluated the 15 biggest carriers in the USA, JetBlue was in the No. 2 spot for the second year in a row, and Hawaiian Airlines moved up to third.

Hillary Rodham Clinton tweeted a photo with Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina backstage at the Women in the World Summit. The two were jailed for a profanity-laced song slamming Russian President Vladimir Putin. The pic has been retweeted more than 9,200 times and favorited more than 10,900 times.
