  • Publix is opening four new stores in Florida during October and November.
  • The new locations will be in Tampa, Palm Bay, Lakeland, and Naples.
  • Store features will vary, with some including two-story designs, expanded delis, and Pours beverage counters.

Three Publix locations have opened in Florida in the last month and there are four more coming in October and November, according to the Lakeland-based company's new stores page.

A new location in Tampa will be 31,485 square feet and include a pharmacy, along with the usual amenities such as a deli and bakery.

The new Brevard County store and a Naples location will be 48,387 square feet each with a two-story design, a pharmacy and liquor store. The second level has indoor and outdoor seating areas.

In Lakeland, the new Lake Mirium Square store will clock in at 55,701 square feet and will include a Pours counter with beverages, smoothies and acai bowls, expanded deli options like burrito bowls and fresh baked pizza, and a mezzanine seating area.

Which new Publix stores are opening in Florida?

  • Tampa: Publix at West River, 1700 N. Blvd., opening Thursday, Oct. 23
  • Palm Bay: Heritage Square, 150 St. Johns Heritage Parkway NW, opening Thursday, Oct. 30
  • Lakeland: Lake Miriam Square, 4730 S Florida Ave., opening Nov. 13
  • Naples: The Shoppes at Orange Blossom, 1715 Oil Well Road, opening Nov. 20

Will the giant Publix shopping cart be at the grand openings?

A giant Publix shopping cart is seen outside on July 19, 2025, at the grand opening of Publix Riverland Town Center at 12407 S.W. Community Blvd.

The massive Publix shopping cart has been confirmed for the Brevard County opening. The 11’9” tall, 14’ long and more than 7.5’ wide cart can often be seen cruising around the area whenever a Publix opens.

The cart, built on top of a Volkswagon Sand Rail, has a driver sitting underneath and can reach speeds up to 45 mph.

More grocery store openings

Publix isn't the only grocery store chain opening new stores.

The no-frills chain Aldi has opened three stores in Florida in recent days, with plans for at least 18 more coming.

Trader Joe's, a more upscale grocery destination, has at least two more stores opening in Florida, although the dates have not been announced.

Where did Publix open new Florida stores in September?

In September, new locations opened in:

  • Fort Myers: Daniels Crossing, 6900 Daniels Parkway, Suite 19 (opened Sept. 11)
  • Coral Gables: Riviera Plaza, 1542 S. Dixie Highway
  • Orlando: Metro West Village, 2435 S. Hiawassee Road
