A shooting in Carrollton, Texas, a suburb north of Dallas, on May 5 left at least two people dead and three people hospitalized, according to local authorities.

Carrollton Chief of Police Roberto Arredondo said in a news conference that officers responded to the shooting at the Ktowne Plaza around 11 a.m. local time and that authorities are investigating multiple scenes near the plaza.

Arredondo identified the suspect as Sung Ho Han, 69, and said he was arrested after the shooting following a short foot chase at the H Mart in the plaza. Arredondo told reporters that the exact motive is unclear but that the victims and the suspect were meeting each other for "a business purpose."

“We don’t know exactly what the meeting was about, but we understand it to be a business relation,” Arredondo said. The chief ruled out the shooting being a hate crime and said that it was not "a random act of gunfire."

The Associated Press described Carrollton, about 20 miles north of Dallas, as "a thriving Koreatown for the metro Dallas area, thanks to Korean investors."
