LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Following another night of unrest in Louisville, the city's curfew remains in effect this evening.

The "dusk-to-dawn" curfew starts at 9 p.m. and lifts at 6:30 a.m. Monday morning.

The National Guard assisted Louisville Metro Police in enforcing the curfew, first imposed Saturday, during the evening.

Numerous people defied the curfew in demonstrations downtown and in the Highlands.

About 40 arrests were made throughout the evening, and police used tear gas and fired projectiles to disperse the crowd.

Mayor Greg Fischer, who announced the curfew Saturday morning, said he would reevaluate the order on Monday and decide whether it needed to remain in effect.

According to the city's order, the curfew rules specify:

People should remain in their residences and out of common areas during curfew hours.

If you violate the curfew, you may be cited and asked to return to your home.

Exceptions to the curfew include: commuting to work and places of worship; and for medical reasons necessary to protect them, a friend or family member.

Businesses should cease serving customers at 9 p.m.
