Full-service Publix in West Palm to include liquor store, pharmacy
Andrew Marra- Plans have been submitted for the first full-service Publix grocery store in downtown West Palm Beach.
- The two-story building will feature a pharmacy, a liquor store, and covered parking.
- The project requires city approval for the sale of public land to Publix.
- Construction is expected to be completed by the summer of 2028.
Plans for the first full-service Publix grocery in downtown West Palm Beach call for a large store with an urban design and wide-ranging services, including a two-story building with covered parking, a pharmacy and a liquor store.
Development plans submitted to the city show the 51-foot-tall building and a surface parking lot would occupy the entire 600 block of Banyan Street, one block from the city’s main Clematis Street strip.
The store’s primary shopping area would be on the second floor and would feature full produce and bakery departments, a deli island and a pharmacy.
The first floor would house the liquor store, 77 covered parking spaces and two retail spaces of about 1,300 square feet each, according to a site plan obtained by The Palm Beach Post through a public records request.

The store would face south toward downtown from the east side of the block. A surface parking lot on the west side would contain an additional 102 spaces.
Publix’s plans, submitted in January, require approval from city officials and are contingent on city commissioners giving a final OK to the sale of 0.8 acres of city land to Publix. A vote is scheduled March 16.
The rest of the block where the store would be built is owned by developer Related Ross, which is under contract to sell the land to Publix, according to the South Florida Business Journal.
The store is expected to be at least 40,000 square feet, nearly double the size of the 23,000-square-foot Publix that operates four blocks to the south in CityPlace.
City officials say Publix expects to complete construction by the summer of 2028.
