TV station interviews Texas man stuck in tree
AUSTIN — A Texas man was stranded in a tree Friday after his car was washed away by flood water.
Kerry Packer captured video of his car being carried along in the flooding. He was able to climb a tree, and KVUE spoke to Packer after his wife, Cecilia, contacted the station via Facebook. She shared her husband's video and said she had been in contact with authorities.
Both husband and wife called 911 before talking to KVUE.
EMS confirmed that as of Friday afternoon, Packer had gotten down from the tree and is fine. He had been in the tree since shortly after 9 a.m. The station interviewed after his rescue.
Austin is experiencing historic flooding. Onion Creek reached the 25 foot level and was threatening roads, homes and bridges. The storm knocked down power lines and flooding closed multiple roads, including Interstate 35 at the Blanco River in San Marcos, Texas. The Blanco River crested at 42.5 feet on Friday, just six inches below Memorial Day flooding the city experienced.
