Labubus are widely popular and garner mixed reactions. Some think they are absolutely adorable, while others think they are absolutely terrifying. If you want to be one for Halloween, you can go either route by DIY.

Video above from Jacob Barr shows an example of creating a creepy-looking Labubu. Barr made the mask from a latex mask and a white bunny mask with fur. After cutting out the eyes from the latex mask and the entire face from the bunny mask, Barr combines the two to create something else entirely.

After combining the two, Barr gives the mask eyes similar to Labubu's and the doll's iconic teeth, creating a truly disturbing look.

Whether you love or hate Labubus, the mask is the perfect option for anyone searching for a last-minute costume and wants to try a spooky take on this year's Labubu trend.

A cuter Labubu alternative

If creepy isn't your style, then you could always try designing a costume that's less scary.

Kate Sisto, a YouTuber, Cosplayer, and Twitch Streamer, DIYed a cuter, life-size Labubu costume.

Sisto was inspired to create the Labubu costume after they'd purchased dentures with sharp teeth.

"I was like, 'Man, what else could I do this for?' And I was like, 'Oh my God, Labubus!'" they told USA TODAY.

To create the costume, Sisto took a sheep onesie and cut the head off of it. Then, they adjusted the ears on the head of the costume to resemble a Labubu's ears and added wires inside them to make them stand up. They also added a hanging loop made from fabric and a bag hook made from a foam dowel that they glued together.

Finally, they used the rest of the sheep onesie pajama to replicate the fur all over Labubu's body and sewed on a handmade tag that resembles the tags found on Labubus.

Sisto created their costume for Anime Expo, an American anime convention held in Los Angeles, and the videos they posted on their Instagram account, @helloiamkate, went viral over the summer.

Labubu is a top Halloween costume for 2025

Labubu is one of the most sought-after Halloween costumes this year coming in at number 2, according to Google Search data.

When is Halloween?

Halloween is on Friday, Oct. 31, so people still have some time to put together any last-minute costumes.

What is a Labubu?

A Labubu is a doll that resembles a monster, featuring a large head, sharp teeth, and prominent eyes. It went viral a few months back and stole the hearts of millions around the world. Many fans have the Labubu keychains which are furry and come in different colors, shapes, and sizes.

Pop Mart has sold small Labubus, some shaped like shrimp tempura, carrying Coke products, dressed as pumpkins, and more.

Some people might say the doll looks a bit scary, while others think it’s downright adorable.

The doll was designed by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung roughly a decade ago. But today, Labubus are sold worldwide by the Beijing-based toy maker Pop Mart, as part of their “The Monsters” line.
