What's the latest on the Trump phone? What we know

Updated May 11, 2026, 1:06 p.m. ET

A Trump phone might actually be coming to market soon.

In March, the gadget received the PTCRB certification, which is required for every North American smartphone. The certification body is tasked with ensuring cellular devices meet global 2G industry standards, according to the organization's website.

No release date has been unveiled by the Trump Mobile company for the phone's official release, and people who have paid deposits have yet to receive it.

Here's everything we know so far.

When is the Trump phone coming out?

It's not clear when the Trump phone is coming out. USA TODAY has contacted the Trump Organization for additional information. For anyone eager to purchase a phone from the company, Trump Mobile is currently selling refurbished Apple and Samsung phones on its website.

According to CNET, the phone was supposed to launch in August 2025 but has seen delays after realizing large-scale smartphone manufacturing would not be feasible in the U.S.

Customers pay a deposit for the Trump phone

To order the device, customers must join a waitlist on the website and pay a $100 refundable deposit. The phone is being sold at a $499 promotional price. The remaining balance will be charged when the phone ships.

According to the terms and conditions on the website, a preorder deposit provides only a conditional opportunity if the company later decides to offer the product for sale.

"A deposit is not a purchase, does not constitute acceptance of an order, does not create a contract for sale, does not transfer ownership or title interest, does not allocate or reserve specific inventory, and does not guarantee that a device will be produced or made available for purchase," the website states.

According to the website, there's no "guarantee of release, delivery or timing."

USA TODAY has contacted the Trump Organization to determine how many people paid deposits for the phone.

T1 phone

The device, called a T1 phone, looks like any other smartphone and features a flat screen with three cameras. It runs on an Android operating system, according to the company's website.

The T1 Phone comes in gold and has a 6.78-inch screen, fingerprint sensor and AI face unlock, in addition to other features.

The cameras include a 50 MP Main + 8MP Wide + 50MP (2X Tele) camera and a 50MP front camera.

A description of the phone on the company's website states it "isn't just powerful; it’s shaped by American innovation. With American teams helping guide design and quality, we focus on delivering a device built with care and precision."

Apart from the phone, Trump Mobile is offering a network plan for customers who either purchase the device or have a device that is already compatible with the network.

The "47 Plan," a reference to President Donald Trump's position as the 47th president, is available for $47.45 a month. The cent price presumably refers to Trump also being the 45th president.

The plan includes unlimited talk, texting, data, international calling to over 230 countries, device protection, roadside assistance and telehealth coverage, the website states. Additionally, customers will have TrumpSM displayed as the status bar in their network.

The company offers family and military plans.
