Gov. Andy Beshear says Kentucky attorney general, feds should review Breonna Taylor case

EMT Breonna Taylor's fatal shooting by Louisville police needs to be examined by state and federal investigators, Gov. Andy Beshear said Wednesday.

"The public reports concerning the death of Breonna Taylor are troubling," Beshear, a Democrat, said in a statement posted to Twitter. "Her family and the public at large deserve the full facts regarding her death."

Beshear joins a rising chorus of national and local leaders who are calling for an investigation into Taylor's death stemming from a March 13 police raid at her apartment.

The 26-year-old was shot eight times by police who alleged they opened fire after her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, fired first, wounding an officer. 

Beshear, a former attorney general, said prosecutors at the local, state and federal level "should carefully review the results of the initial investigation" to make sure justice is done. He also noted how that such a review is important, "when many are concerned that justice is not blind."

Attorney General Daniel Cameron's office did not immediately respond to multiple requests for comment left by The Courier Journal.
