Clemson University announced on Sept. 16 that it has dismissed two faculty members as it investigates social media posts made about Charlie Kirk's death.

The school had come under fire for alleged inappropriate posts made by faculty and staff members following Kirk's death on Sept. 10. Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed at an event on Utah Valley University's campus.

The school stated in an earlier update that it had dismissed one staff member and removed two faculty members from the classroom as it investigated social media posts. Those two faculty members have since been entirely dismissed from their employment at the university.

"We fully acknowledge the concerns raised regarding the timing of recent personnel decision. Every deliberation reflects the university's unwavering commitment to conduct all actions in full compliance with institutional policies, state and federal laws, and the foundational principles of due process," Clemson University said in a statement. "Clemson remains resolute in its commitment to cultivating an environment safe, respectful, and conducive to academic excellence."

The school did not name any of the staff members under investigation or include specifics about the posts. Some politicians have called for the school to be defunded, while others have said students should request tuition refunds.
