WASHINGTON ‒ Presidents typically wait until they've left the White House ‒ or died ‒ until they get streets and buildings named in their honor.

But not Donald Trump.

Fresh off the Kennedy Center rebranding with his name, Trump received his latest naming recognition: a 4-mile stretch of Southern Boulevard in Palm Beach, Florida, now known as the President Donald J. Trump Boulevard.

Trump attended a Jan. 16 ceremony at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach to make the Florida state government's name change official.

"That's a serious sign," Trump said, posing for a photo op in front of one of the large signs that will be installed on the street.

President Trump and member of the Florida House of Representatives Meg Weinberger unveil a street sign at a ceremony held to dedicate a 4-mile stretch of road from West Palm Beach Airport to President Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate as 'President Donald J. Trump Boulevard.'

The stretch of the state road named for Trump connects the Palm Beach International Airport, where Trump lands on Air Force One, to his Mar-a-Lago home and resort. Trump's fans ‒ and foes ‒ often greet the president along the road as he makes his way to and from Mar-a-Lago on weekends and holidays.

"It's beautiful. Thank you. Wow, it's the real deal," Trump said.

Republicans in the Florida statehouse pushed through legislation to name the stretch of the boulevard after Trump. Local commissions in West Palm Beach and Palm Beach County later signed off on the proposal.

Attendees hold 'President Donald J. Trump Boulevard' street signs, at a ceremony held to dedicate a 4-mile stretch of road from West Palm Beach Airport to Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in the president's name.

"When I first filed the language, I was told it wasn't allowed, that we couldn't do this," Republican Florida state Rep. Meg Weinberger, the sponsor of the naming bill, said as she introduced Trump. She said it required "determination" to get the measure approved in a larger bill that included road renamings across the state.

"We need to honor and respect you and your family for everything you've done for us and our country," Weinberger told the president.

Trump, who used his name on skyscrapers during his real estate days, has embraced putting the Trump name on an array of landmarks and programs during the first year back in the White House.

Most controversially, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts' board of trustees voted in December to rename the national music, arts and cultural institution as the Donald J. Trump and the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts. The move has been challenged in court by Democratic Rep. Joyce Beatty, D-Ohio, who sits on the board.

There's also the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity, a U.S.-brokered transit corridor connecting Azerbaijan to Turkey via Armenia; the renaming of the United States Institute of Peace to the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace; new "Trump accounts" for newborn babies; and the "Trump Gold Card," designed for wealthy foreigners to pay their way into legal residency in the United States.
