President Donald Trump is in China for a summit with President Xi Jinping.
“We both believe that the China-US relationship is the most important bilateral relationship in the world. We must make it work and never mess it up," President Xi said at a May 14 banquet through a translator, according to the pool report. A White House readout of a meeting between Trump and Xi says they discussed the Strait of Hormuz, economic cooperation and drug control. Trump has more events scheduled for May 15 before returning to Washington.
Trump is joined by a host of CEOs and administration members (though not Vice President JD Vance, he said it feels like "Home Alone" at the White House). Like other Trump trips, he has been joined by some people in his family. Is first lady Melania Trump there?

No, she has not appeared at any of the events, pool notes show.
She did travel with Trump on his 2017 trip. The first lady's office did not immediately answer questions about why she did not travel this time.

The only family member that has been seen on the trip is his second son and executive vice president of the Trump Organization, Eric Trump. Eric Trump's wife, Lara Trump, host of Fox News' "My View," also joined them.
Trump is also joined by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, communications director Steven Cheung, Elon Musk, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and others.
