  • President Donald Trump will visit Upstate South Carolina to support Sen. Darline Graham's midterm campaign.
  • This marks Trump's second visit to South Carolina in recent months and his first to the Upstate since 2023.
  • Several other U.S. presidents, including George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan, have previously visited the Upstate region.

President Donald Trump will stop in Upstate South Carolina to garner support from Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections.

On Wednesday, Oct. 21, Trump will be heading to the Upstate in support of Sen. Darline Graham as she looks to hold on to the U.S. Senate seat she was appointed to after the unexpected death of her brother, Lindsay Graham. Darline Graham is in a very narrow race with Democrat Dr. Annie Andrews.

This isn't the first time Trump, or other presidents, have made their way to Upstate South Carolina for a brief visit or for campaigning.

When was the last time Trump was in the Upstate? South Carolina?

It has been several years since Trump visited the Upstate, but his upcoming trip is the second time he has come to the Palmetto State in the last few months.

The president's last visit to the Palmetto State was a rally for Graham on Aug. 21 in the Myrtle Beach area as part of her campaign during the special primary to get on the midterm ballot.

Trump's last visit to Upstate South Carolina was in 2024 for an event in Greenville as he campaigned for the 2024 presidential election.

Have other presidents visited Upstate South Carolina?

In the last 50 years, a handful of U.S. presidents have made the journey to Upstate South Carolina.

Trump has made several visits to the Upstate during his campaigns for the White House in 2015 and continues to visit in 2026. Before that visit, the last president to visit Upstate South Carolina for an event was former President George W. Bush in 2008 to deliver a commencement address at Furman University, according to previous reports from Anderson Independent Mail.

Former President Joe Biden did make a stop in the Upstate at GSP Airport to take a helicopter tour of the Carolinas after Helene, but did not attend an event in the area.

Visits from presidents include:

  • Trump
  • Bush
  • Biden
  • Bill Clinton
  • Gerald Ford
  • Jimmy Carter
  • Ronald Reagan
