New Jersey election results: Latest on primary races for House, Senate

Another state has begun this year's midterm elections cycle.
New Jersey voters cast ballots in the Tuesday, June 2, primary elections for U.S. House and Senate candidates to land on November ballots. The race comes amid a month jam-packed with elections across the country as Republicans aim to maintain a narrow majority on Capitol Hill and Democrats look to gain competitive momentum.
Here are the results of the June 2 New Jersey primary, according to the Associated Press and CNN.
New Jersey House primary results
District 1
- Republican: Damon Galdo won the race uncontested.
- Democrat: Incumbent Rep. Donald Norcross won the race uncontested.
District 2
- Republican: Incumbent Rep. Jeff Van Drew won the race uncontested.
- Democrat: Zach Mullock (39.7% of votes) defeated Tim Alexander (27.6% of votes), Bayly Winder (22% of votes) and Terri Reese (10.7% of votes) with an estimated 93% of votes counted.
District 3
- Republican: Michael P. McGuire (57.9% of votes) defeated Jason Cullen (24.4% of votes) and Justin Barbera (17.7% of votes) with an estimated 92% of votes counted.
- Democrat: Incumbent Rep. Herb Conaway won the race uncontested.
District 4
- Republican: Incumbent Rep. Chris Smith won the race uncontested.
- Democrat: Rachel Peace (72.7% of votes) defeated John Blake (27.4% of votes) with an estimated 88% of votes counted.
District 5
- Republican: Sean Kirrane won the race uncontested.
- Democrat: Incumbent Rep. Josh Gottheimer won the race uncontested.
District 6
- Republican: Hillary Herzig won the race uncontested.
- Democrat: Incumbent Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. (66.2% of votes) defeated John Hsu (26.2% of votes) and Katie Bansil (7.6% of votes) with an estimated 84% of votes counted.
District 7
- Republican: Incumbent Rep. Thomas Kean won the race uncontested.
- Democrat: Rebecca Bennett (45.5% of votes) defeated Tina Shah (20% of votes), Brian Varela (18.8% of votes) and Michael Roth (15.6% of votes) with an estimated 90% of votes counted.
District 8
- Republican: No candidates filed for the Republican primary.
- Democrat: Incumbent Rep. Robert Menendez (69% of votes) defeated Mussab Ali (31% of votes) with an estimated 88% of votes counted.
District 9
- Republican: This race is not yet called. As of early Wednesday, neither Rosie Pino (51.4% of votes) nor Tiffany Burress (48.6% of votes) won the race with 89% of votes counted.
- Democrat: Incumbent Rep. Nelli Pou won the race uncontested.
District 10
- Republican: Carmen Bucco won the race uncontested.
- Democrat: Incumbent Rep. LaMonica McIver (84.7% of votes) defeated Lawrence D. Poster (15.3% of votes) with an estimated 85% of votes counted.
District 11
- Republican: Joe Hathaway won the race uncontested.
- Democrat: Incumbent Rep. Analilia Mejia (81.5% of votes) defeated Donald Cresitello (7%), Justin Strickland (6.2% of votes) and Joseph B. Lewis (5.4% of votes) with an estimated 88% of votes counted.
District 12
- Republican: Gregg Mele won the race uncontested.
- Democrat: Adam Hamawy (28.1% of votes) defeated Brad Cohen (14.9% of votes), Sam Wang (9.3% of votes), Shanel Y. Robinson (9% of votes) and Verlina Reynolds-Jackson (8.9% of votes) with an estimated 93% of votes counted.
New Jersey Senate primary results
- Republican: Justin Murphy (33.3% of votes) defeated Richard Tabor (29.2% of votes), Alex Zdan (26.9% of votes) and Robert S. Lebovics (10.6% of votes) with an estimated 92% of votes counted.
- Democrat: Incumbent Sen. Cory Booker won the race uncontested.
