South Dakota election results: Latest on primary races for House, Senate

South Dakota voters have selected candidates for the November midterm ballots for U.S. Senate, House and gubernatorial elections. The races are among a slew of Tuesday, June 2, primaries across the country that determined who will campaign for seats in Washington in the fall.

Here are the South Dakota June 2 winners to know from key races ahead of the November elections, according to the Associated Press and CNN.

House primary results

  • Republican: Marty Jackley (79.2% of votes) defeated James Bialota (20.8% of votes) with an estimated 99% of votes counted.
  • Democrat: Nikki Gronli won the race uncontested.

South Dakota Senate primary results

  • Republican: Incumbent Sen. Mike Rounds (75.8% of votes) defeated Justin McNeal (24.2% of votes) with an estimated 99% of votes counted.
  • The Democratic primary was canceled after Julian Beaudion garnered enough signatures to appear on the November ballot, according to Ballotpedia.

South Dakota governor primary results

As of early Wednesday, Republican Toby Doeden (30.6% of votes) advanced to a runoff with an estimated 99% of votes counted. One other candidate will advance among Republican South Dakota Gov. Larry Rhoden (25.2% of votes), Republican Dusty Johnson (23.4% of votes) and Jon Hansen (20.8% of votes).
