Maryland election results: Latest on primary races for House, governor
Maryland's governor knows his opponent for the November general election.
Democratic Gov. Wes Moore is set to face former Mayrland state deleage Dan Cox in the fall after voters cast ballots in a June 23 primary. The election also featured primary elections for all eight of the state's House seats as Republicans and President Donald Trump look to secure a majority on Capitol Hill.
Here's how the governor's primary shaped up and other key June 23 Maryland race results, according to the Associated Press and CNN.
Who will Moore face in autumnal election?
Moore (87.8% of votes) defeated Eric Felber (12.2% of votes) with an estimated 66% of votes counted in the Maryland Democratic gubernatorial primary.
On the Republican side, Cox (45.2% of votes) overcame Ed Hale (35.7% of votes) with an estimated 83% of votes counted.
Maryland House primary results
District 1
- Republican: Incumbent Rep. Andy Harris (81.4% of votes) defeated Chris Bruneau (18.6% of votes) with an estimated 84% of votes counted.
- Democrat: This race is not yet called. As of 6:30 a.m. EDT Wednesday, Dan Schwartz (45.5% of votes) leads Randi White (37.3% of votes) with an estimated 59% of votes counted.
District 2
- Republican: Dave Wallace (89.4% of votes) defeated Nnabu Eze (10.6 % of votes) with an estimated 80% of votes counted.
- Democrat: Incumbent Rep. John Olszewski (83.7% of votes) defeated Clint Spellman Jr. (16.3% of votes) with an estimated 62% of votes counted.
District 3
- Republican: Berney Flowers (48.8% of votes) defeated John White (26.8% of votes) with an estimated 81% of votes counted.
- Democrat: Incumbent Rep. Sarah Elfreth (73.5% of votes) defeated Austin Dyches (9.8% of votes) with an estimated 70% of votes counted.
District 4
- Republican: George McDermott won the race uncontested.
- Democrat: Incumbent Rep. Glenn Ivey (76.5% of votes) defeated Jakeya Johnson (12.8% of votes) with an estimated 60% of votes counted.
District 5
- Republican: Chris Chaffee (52.5% of votes) defeated Michelle Talkington (33.9% of votes) with an estimated 81% of votes counted.
- Democrat: Adrian Boafo (32% of votes) defeated Quincy Bareebe (18.1% of votes) with an estimated 68% of votes counted.
District 6
- Republican: Robin Ficker (42% of votes) defeated Chris Burnett (37.4% of votes) with an estimated 85% of votes counted.
- Democrat: Rep. April McClain Delaney (43.7% of votes) defeated David Trone (37.3% of votes) with an estimated 67% of votes counted.
District 7
- Republican: Scott Collier won the race uncontested.
- Democrat: Incumbent Rep. Kweisi Mfume (69.8% of votes) defeated Mark Conway Jr. (24.5% of votes) with an estimated 69% of votes counted.
District 8
- Republican: Cheryl Riley (44% of votes) defeated Anita Cox (26.2% of votes) with an estimated 75% of votes counted.
