Dating apps promise endless possibilities, but many single women are feeling anything but optimistic in 2026.

New research from sexual wellness brand Womanizer has revealed that just one in four single women are actively dating, with almost half believing that finding a partner has become more difficult than it was a few years ago.

Despite widespread dating fatigue, Womanizer's survey uncovered a surprising twist: many women say that they're actually happier with their sex lives than their dating lives. Why? They're redefining what sexual fulfillment looks like with help from brands like Womanizer.

Dating burnout is real

According to Womanizer's survey of 169 single heterosexual women, only 25% are currently dating, while 46.5% believe dating has become harder than in recent years.

Confidence is also taking a hit, with 46.8% saying they're not confident they'll find a partner right now.

Among women who are still dating, familiar frustrations continue to dominate:

  • 35% say most people are only looking for casual hook-ups
  • 30.2% are frustrated by inconsistent communication and mixed signals
  • 21% struggle to find someone genuinely interested in a committed relationship

Sure, this survey's findings paint a picture of growing exhaustion with modern dating culture, where uncertainty and unclear expectations have become the norm. But, rather than viewing happiness as something that depends on finding a partner, many women are simply investing in their own wellbeing, embracing sexual confidence and turning to technology for both emotional guidance and intimate wellness.

Women aren't waiting for relationships to enjoy fulfilling sex lives

Womanizer's new sexual pleasure device combines advanced contactless stimulation with customizable intensity and depth controls in a sleek, travel-friendly design.

While romance may be proving elusive, many women aren't putting their personal happiness on hold. More than 55% of respondents said they're satisfied with their sex lives, despite being single.

Even among women who aren't dating at all, 43% reported being sexually satisfied. That figure climbs to 62.8% among those who are dating, suggesting that sexual wellbeing is becoming increasingly separate from relationship status.

The results reflect a broader shift in attitudes toward self-care, pleasure and personal wellbeing, with more women prioritizing their own needs instead of settling for unsatisfying relationships.
