Move over, Berries and Cream — there's another British delicacy in competition for the most coveted menu item at Wimbledon 2026, and it comes in the form of a fruity British cocktail that's perfect for tennis matches and summer parties alike.

Meet the Pimm's Cup, the Wimbledon drink of choice for more than four decades, which blends gin-based liqueur Pimm's No.1, lemonade, and fruit for a low-alcohol cocktail that's as refreshing as it is easy to make. And new reports show that tennis fans are stocking up and recreating en bulk at home this summer.

According to data from Total Wine & More, the retailer saw a 15-20% increase in purchases of Pimm’s No. 1 in the weeks leading up to Wimbledon's 2025 tournament. Now, as tennis's most historic matchup enters its final days, you can transport yourself to the Wimbledon grounds and mix up a summer cocktail that you can enjoy all season long.

So, what is a Pimm's Cup?

While a Pimm's Cup is most famous for its presence on the Wimbledon menu, the low-alcohol cocktail is actually synonymous with British summertime, and known as one of the UK's most popular drinks during the summer months.

It's jokingly been referred to as a "gin-based fruit cup" thanks to its various chopped fruits and veggies, which juxtapose against Pimms No.1, a gin-based liqueur.

Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 oz. Pimm's No.1
  • 5 oz. lemonade
  • 1 orange
  • 3 strawberries
  • 1 cucumber
  • To garnish: Mint

Directions

  1. Dice up your fruits and veggies; there isn't a precise amount to follow, just whatever you find preferable.
  2. Pile all the ingredients (solids and liquids) into (ideally) a tall glass, mix them together thoroughly, and sip away. Easy enough right?
  3. Finally, garnish your Pimm's Cup with a mint leaf for a unique flavor contrast.

Pro tip: Many mixologists recommend making your Pimm's Cup recipe by the jug, as opposed to a drink by drink basis. This avenue offers an easier way to serve the fruity cocktail to guests, plus it allows the fruits, veggies, and liquor to seep together more fully.

How a Pimm's Cup became Wimbledon's signature cocktail

The Pimm's Cup was originally created as a gin-based health tonic in the 1840s, by then-London oyster bar owner, James Pimm, who served it as a digestive aid.

The drink's popularity eventually became commercialized, with Pimm selling it to the public, and the original recipe being dubbed as Pimm's No. 1 Cup.

While many Pimm's Cup variations have popped up since its inception, the original recipe is still its most popular; after the first official Pimm's bar opened in 1971 at the Wimbledon tennis tournament, it then became the official drink of the matchup.
