Kaelyn entered the world of entrepreneurship at a young age. Unlike most teenagers her age, Kaelyn was one of the few fortunate ones to realize their passion and calling early on. Working for a catering company while balancing her studies enabled her to discover her love for event planning and production. She then immediately started her first business, although unofficially, as a side hustle.  

The young entrepreneur continued to enhance her skills while pursuing her education at the University of Kentucky. She juggled her coursework with managing restaurants and producing events on the side, all while gaining valuable experience and insights into the hospitality and events industry. Kaelyn officially launched Lexington Event Company, now Kentucky Event Company, in 2013. 

Kentucky Event Company is a full-service firm offering event management, planning, and consulting services to its clientele across the United States and selected locations abroad. Like most, if not all, entrepreneurs, Kaelyn encountered setbacks along her journey. Perhaps one of the most striking challenges she faced was the rapid expansion of her previous venture. The company grew at breakneck speed, and she found herself struggling to scale the business. "At first, seeing the company grow so fast was exhilarating. But I soon realized that it was developing at an unsustainable pace," Kaelyn shared. This experience taught her the importance of informed decision-making and the pitfalls of overextending oneself.  

Following this is a devastating blow to her entrepreneurial journey as a failed partnership led to the very same company filing for bankruptcy. Reflecting on these setbacks, Kaelyn shared: "Every obstacle I faced has shaped me into the entrepreneur I am today. I've learned that they're not failures but opportunities for growth and resilience." 

Kaelyn adopted the same resilient attitude as the COVID-19 pandemic brought unforeseen challenges and disruptions. Kentucky Event Company was able to navigate the changes in the hospitality and event planning industries by streamlining the firm's processes and procedures. This led to increased sales and better engagement with clients. Essentially, Kaelyn's exceptional entrepreneurial skills make her worthy to be included in the "50 Under 50" list by TOPS in Lexington Magazine.  

The forward-thinking entrepreneur has not only built a successful business but also became a respected leader and advocate for small businesses. Kaelyn assumes multiple roles as a former Chair of the Kentucky Chamber Small Business Policy Council Committee, a board member of the Lexington Chamber of Commerce, and a member of various organizations.
