In this position, he is responsible for conducting research and recommending natural resource management and sustainability guidelines, with field teams across Mesoamerica, particularly Nicaragua, and the Caribbean, most recently in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. He is a generalist in the field of wildlife biology, engaging in various studies from heavy metal contaminants and avian morphometrics to urban bird population dynamics, all necessary disparateness when adapting to shifting federal and socioecological priorities.Ā
Further Education and Research EffortsĀ
Dr. Arendtās invested tenure in federal service has not prevented him from continuing his education, having completed a Master of Science honors degree in biology from the University of Missouri Columbia in 1983 and a doctorate in wildlife ecology and forestry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Arendt's persistence in education demonstrates a dedication to learning in his field, while broadening his horizons and preparing him for the many achievements over his fulfilling and gratifying career.Ā
