Frontline Medical Group, LLC, a healthcare staffing company founded in 2022, serving in in-home care, nursing, skilled rehab, and hospitals, is redefining the industry by prioritizing both frontline healthcare workers and the clients it serves. Unlike traditional agencies that take large overhead costs, Frontline Medical Group operates with a streamlined, remote-based model.

Founded by Reyna Aufiero, a practicing bedside nurse with almost two decades of experience and of proud Filipino heritage, the agency was born from the harsh realities she witnessed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Frontline is expanding beyond Massachusetts into New England, offering healthcare providers a more ethical and sustainable staffing solution.

Frontline’s business model, with its remote working model and outsourcing administrative operations, can significantly reduce overhead costs, aiming to make sure that more of the bill rates go directly to the frontline healthcare workers. This structure helps healthcare workers earn without the need for excessive overtime, potentially improving both their quality of life and the quality of care they provide to the patients. “Our model works in a way that is sustainable for our employees,” shares Aufiero. “If healthcare workers are overworked and undervalued, patient care suffers. This model has allowed us to pay healthcare workers what they deserve while keeping costs reasonable for our clients. That’s how you create long-term success in this industry.”

Additionally, Frontline maintains a rigorous vetting process to ensure that only highly qualified and experienced nurses, physical therapists, and certified nursing assistants are placed with clients. The agency emphasizes comprehensive screening, training, and ongoing support to uphold exceptional standards of care. This saves healthcare facilities the time and costs associated with having to hire contract healthcare workers.

Aufiero’s decision to launch Frontline Medical Group was deeply personal. As a nurse on a pulmonary/medical surgical unit during the height of COVID, she witnessed the full impact of the pandemic, not just in hospitals but also in her home. While caring for critically ill patients, she also tended to her unwell mother and visually impaired sister. “The world saw the statistics, but we nurses saw the reality,” she says. “Nurses were not only dealing with unprecedented stress at work, but many of us were also carrying personal burdens at home. We showed up every day, but the system wasn’t built to support us.”

During that time, Aufiero saw traveling nurses being paid only a fraction of the agency bill rates while hospitals struggled with skyrocketing staffing costs. Recognizing the unsustainable nature of the system, she developed a business model that would benefit both frontline healthcare workers and healthcare providers.

As the healthcare industry continues to grapple with a nationwide nursing shortage, compounded by widespread burnout, the demand for high-quality, reliable care is growing. Frontline Medical Group specializes in staffing Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Physical Therapists (PT), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and home health aides for home healthcare providers. The agency’s stringent vetting process ensures that clients receive healthcare workers with strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work independently in home settings.

“Although we supply a variety of staffing across different types of facilities, we specialize in home care,” Aufiero explains. “Unlike hospitals, where healthcare workers have immediate access to support, home care healthcare workers need to be highly skilled and resourceful. We only place those who are truly prepared for the challenges of this role.”

Currently serving several major clients in Massachusetts, Frontline is further expanding throughout New England. As it expands, the company actively seeks new partnerships with home healthcare providers who align with its values of ethical staffing, fair wages, and high-quality patient care.
