Empowering Authors: How Newhouse Creative Group is Helping Writers Market Their Work

For many authors, the biggest challenge isn’t writing the book—it’s getting people to read it. In today’s saturated market, simply having a great story isn’t enough. The key to success often lies in effective marketing, but for many writers, the thought of self-promotion is overwhelming, confusing, and, frankly, unappealing.

A survey by Written Word Media found that around 80% of self-published authors cite marketing as their biggest challenge, with 60% struggling to find their audience. Additionally, only 10% of indie authors and publishers earn more than $10,000 annually, often due to a lack of promotional strategy. This highlights the urgent need for tailored marketing support.

Keith and Mark Newhouse of Newhouse Creative Group understand these struggles firsthand. Mark, a seasoned author, has not only written numerous works, including Welcome to Monstrovia (now turned popular podcast), but has also dedicated his life to education, whether that be during his career as a teacher or afterwards, inspiring other authors to turn their hobby into a source of income. Keith, on the other hand, released his first book, My Tío’s Pulse, and donated all its proceeds to charity, allowing the book’s impact to not only affect the readers themselves but the overall community.

As authors themselves, they’ve seen talented writers struggle to gain visibility simply because they didn’t have the right marketing tools or guidance. That’s why they are providing a free 1-on-1 marketing coaching session, designed to help authors take control of their marketing in a way that feels authentic and manageable.

“There are so many creative minds out there with incredible stories but getting the right eyes on their work is often the biggest hurdle,” says Keith Newhouse. “We want to change that by giving authors the knowledge and confidence to market their books effectively—without feeling lost or overwhelmed.”

One of the biggest misconceptions about book marketing is that there’s a one-size-fits-all approach. Many authors turn to generic online lists filled with ‘150 ways to market your book,’ only to end up feeling more confused than when they started. Others are told that success hinges on a strong social media presence, but not every author enjoys or excels at social media.

Newhouse Creative Group’s approach is different. Instead of prescribing the same tactics to everyone, they focus on understanding each author’s unique strengths, personality, and goals. Are they introverts who prefer behind-the-scenes strategies? Do they thrive in face-to-face interactions? By tailoring marketing strategies to the individual, they ensure that authors aren’t just going through the motions—they’re using methods that work for them and having fun while doing it. Keith Newhouse adds, “The power of fun cannot be underestimated. After all, when an author doesn't enjoy marketing, they are not going to continue doing it. Let's flip that script and find something that will be fun for them!”

The free session serves as a foundation, equipping authors with the essential skills and mindset to market their books with confidence. But for those who want more in-depth guidance, Newhouse Creative Group also offers paid coaching programs, including their innovative laser coaching model. These sessions provide personalized support to help authors implement strategies, stay accountable, and refine their approach over time.

At its core, the mission of Newhouse Creative Group is about more than marketing—it’s about empowerment. “We’re not just teaching marketing,” says Keith. “We’re helping authors take control of their success in a way that feels right for them.”

By breaking down barriers and demystifying the marketing process, Keith and Mark Newhouse are ensuring that more great stories reach the readers they deserve. And with both free and paid resources available, they’re making it easier than ever for authors to take that next step toward success.

“Every writer has a story worth telling, and our mission is to make sure those stories find their audience,” says Keith Newhouse. “We know that marketing can feel overwhelming, but no author should feel like they have to navigate it alone. That’s why we created these programs—to break down barriers, provide guidance, and help authors build confidence in sharing their work. Success isn’t just about luck; it’s about having the right tools and support. If we can help even one writer get their book into the hands of readers who need it, then we’ve done something truly meaningful.”
