Former ESPN reporter Britt McHenry indicated in a tweet this week that her political views were behind her firing.

Responding to a tweet from Fox Sports' Clay Travis, McHenry suggested that being conservative is what cost her a job.

Travis had posted and mocked a comment from someone who said that ESPN wasn't liberal because it had hired country singer Hank Williams Jr. to sing the Monday Night Football theme again. McHenry responded with, "I mean I've been openly Conservative... look how that ended up..."

McHenry later deleted that response, but the Daily Mail got a screen shot.

She later defended herself with a couple of tweets on her own feed.

McHenry was among many ESPN employees laid off in May

She was disciplined by ESPN in 2015 after her tirade against a tow-lot attendant. Something that got her suspended from the network for a week.
