Famed actress Hayden Panettiere was found in cardiac arrest Sunday, Aug. 16 ahead of her death in Greenville, South Carolina, the same night. An autopsy on the 36-year-old star was completed Monday, but her cause of death remains under "further investigation and the completion of additional studies."

Panettiere spent a lifetime in front of the camera, and sports fans knew her long before "Heroes" or "Nashville" made her a household name. She laced up for the figure-skating drama "Ice Princess," chased the finish line in the horse-racing comedy "Racing Stripes" and led the squad in "Bring It On: All or Nothing."

But none of those roles carried the staying power of her breakout as Sheryl Yoast – the football-obsessed, wise-beyond-her-years daughter of assistant coach Bill Yoast (Will Patton) who stole scenes opposite Denzel Washington in one of the most iconic sports movies ever made: "Remember the Titans."

What role did Hayden Panettiere play in 'Remember the Titans'?

Panettiere played Sheryl Yoast, the daughter of assistant coach Bill Yoast. Her character was an outgoing, football nut, who was even willing to tell a group of football players that they were "acting like sissies! Quit it!" She also famously hated playing with dolls.

The real-life Sheryl Yoast also operated as the narrator for the film, recounting the 1971 T.C. Williams football season through the perspective of a coach's daughter.

As Sheryl Yoast, Panettiere showcased the difference in lifestyles and values between her family and the family of coach Herman Boone (played by Denzel Washington). Obviously, the families have much more in common than they initially think, and nothing showcases the growth of the bond between the team and those families like the relationship between the daughters of the coaches.

Here is a compilation of some of Panettiere's best moments as Sheryl Yoast, from her frantic pacing in the stands at games to her home life and how she acts atypical from the normal girls in that time.
