Naoya Inoue vs Junto Nakatani results: Inoue stays perfect in Tokyo
Josh PeterThe Tokyo Dome was the site of one of boxing greatest upsets, when Buster Douglas knocked out Mike Tyson in 1990.
A sellout crowd of 55,000 is expected to pack the building yet again for what could be another stirring upset – or Monster-like destruction.
The super bantamweight fight will pit Naoya “Monster’’ Inoue (32-0, 27 KOs) against Junto Nakatani (32-0, 24 KOs) Saturday, May 2.
Once, losing seemed almost unthinkable for Inoue. But the 33-year-old superstar has shown vulnerability.
During a yearlong stretch between 2024 and 2025, he got knocked down twice. And although known for his power, Inoue has failed to knock out his last two opponents.
Nakatani, the 28-year-old challenger, developed a streak of invincibility during a string of stoppages. But he took serious from Sebastian Henandez Reyes in his last fight before agreeing to the super fight against Inoue.

Inoue defeats Nakatani by unanimous decision
Naoya Inoue extended his impressive winning streak after securing a unanimous decision victory (116-112, 116-112, and 115-113) over Junto Nakatani in a fight that went all 12 rounds, successfully defending his undisputed super-bantamweight title. This win brings Inoue's record to an impressive 33-0.
