Texas A&M takes home the 2025-2026 Lone Star Showdown over Texas

The Lone Star Showdown trophy will stay in College Station for the remainder of the 2025-2026 athletic calendar year after Texas A&M's Track & Field teams finished higher in the rankings, finishing with a four-point lead (11.5 to 7.5) over the Texas Longhorns on Saturday night.

While the Longhorn fanbase felt very confident that the trophy would stay in Austin (TX) for the foreseeable future, the Texas A&M Women's Volleyball team's National Title, winning one of the matchups in men's basketball, and head-to-head victories in soccer, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field, sealed the deal heading into the summer.

Yes, Texas is currently 2-0 vs. Texas A&M on the football field, but with the game returning to Kyle Field in 2026, the Aggies have a shot to finally defeat the Longhorns for the first time in more than a decade. Still, the Texas A&M Track & Field teams deserve a bulk of the credit after the men's team finished fourth, and the women's team finished sixth in the Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday night.

After taking home the trophy last season, Texas A&M and Texas have now split the Lone Star Showdown title, which further proves that both athletic departments continue to lead the Lone Star State in nearly every collegiate sport. Texas A&M will look to take the lead next season.
