College baseball rankings: USA TODAY Sports Coaches preseason poll, more

Opening day for the 2026 college baseball season is less than two weeks away.

LSU baseball is seeking to become the first back-to-back champions in the sport since South Carolina won back-to-back titles in 2010 and 2011. The Tigers are the top-ranked team in the preseason USA TODAY Coaches Poll.

However, LSU has some real competition if it's going to try to win a second straight championship. Second-place UCLA had just nine fewer points and one fewer first-place vote than the Tigers, and should be a real threat.

Of course, LSU plays in the talent-rich Southeastern Conference, which will look to win its seventh consecutive College World Series when the season wraps in June. The SEC has three teams in the top five, five in the top 10 and nine overall in the top 25. The ACC also has nine teams in the top 25.
