The most talented league in NCAA softball begins its conference tournament on Tuesday, May 5. Will the SEC Softball Tournament prove to be a precursor to the NCAA Softball Tournament and Women's College World Series?

The conference has once again proven to be among the most talented in the sport in 2026, boasting five top-10 teams and 11 in the top 25 of the latest Softball America top 25.

Oklahoma (48-7, 20-4 in SEC play) enters the postseason tournament as the Southeastern Conference's regular season champion and No. 1 seed. The Sooners have among the most explosive offenses in the country, headlined by freshman wunderkind Kendall Wells, who is one home run shy of tying the NCAA single-season record.

Elsewhere, No. 2 Alabama (48-7, 19-5) enters as a strong contender to challenge for the title. The Crimson Tide have used strong pitching from Jocelyn Briski and Vic Moten to accrue a 47-6 record and 19-5 mark in SEC play, losing only one conference series all season.

While the Sooners and Crimson Tide will be among the favorites to win the whole thing, other strong contenders include defending Women's College World Series champion Texas; Tennessee, who produced the No. 1 pick of the 2026 AUSL Draft in pitcher Karyln Pickens; and Florida, always a strong contender come tourney time.
