When are super regionals of NCAA Softball Tournament? Dates, schedule, sites

It's onto the best-of-three super regional round of the 2026 NCAA Softball Tournament, with the original 64-team bracket cut down to 16.

The first batch of best-of-three series starts on Thursday, May 21 while the remaining series get underway on Friday, May 22. Each of the original top-eight seeded teams from Selection Sunday have advanced to the second weekend to host the super regionals.

The SEC continues to have a notable presence in the postseason, with six of its teams hosting the second weekend. The bracket also features three all-SEC matchups, including top-seeded Alabama vs. No. 16 LSU and No. 7 Tennessee vs. No. 10 Georgia.

There are three unranked teams still alive in the field in Central Florida, Mississippi State and Arizona State. The Knights won the Tallahassee Regional over the weekend, clinching it with a 4-2 win over No. 9 Florida State in the "if necessary" regional championship. It's just the second time in program history, and the first since 2022, that Central Florida has appeared in the second weekend of the tournament.

One intriguing super regional matchup is No. 11 Texas Tech and NiJaree Canady traveling to see No. 6 Florida and Taylor Schumaker. The Red Raiders nearly dropped into the elimination bracket on May 16, but a two-out, eight-run rally helped Texas Tech force extra innings and eventually secure the win. The Gators swept their way through the Gainesville Regional, outscoring their opponents 25-2.

All winners of the best-of-three super regionals will advance to the coveted Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, which starts at Devon Park on Thursday, May 28 with a quadruple header of games.

The best-of-three super regional series in the 2026 NCAA Softball Tournament will begin either Thursday, May 21, or Friday, May 22. Series that open on May 21 will run through Saturday, May 23, while those starting on May 22 will conclude on Sunday, May 24.
