Players Championship cut tracker: Scottie Scheffler rallies to reach weekend

The top golfer in the world nearly missed playing the weekend at the 2026 Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

It all came down to the 18th and final hole for Scottie Scheffler, with the world No. 1 sitting right at the +2 cut line as the second round concluded on Friday, March 13. But there's a reason Scheffler has been the best golfer this decade – he knows how to handle the pressure. The four-time major champion played a perfect approach shot on the par-4, 455-yard hole and put just enough on his putt to drop in a birdie to climb to +1 and safely into the clubhouse with two more rounds to play this weekend.

A number of other notable golfers were not so lucky, including Lucas Glover (+3), Gary Woodland (+4) and Shane Lowry (+5).

Meanwhile, Ludvig Åberg shot a 9-under 63 in the second round to sit alone atop the leaderboard at -12 through two rounds. Xander Schauffele was two shots back at -10, followed by Cameron Young at -9.

What is the cut line at Players Championship 2026?

The cut line at The Players Championship is +2, meaning any golfer with that score or better after 36 holes will play the third and final rounds of the 2026 tournament on Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15. The top 65 golfers, including ties, after second-round action, made the cut.
