US Open cut line tracker: Who was sent home from Shinnecock Hills?

It was a rough day to be a recent U.S. Open winner.

The second round of the 2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills wrapped up Friday, June 19 with a cut line of +4 as 72 golfers will head to the weekend and the final two rounds.

But, a number of big names are packing their bags early, including the past two champions, the 2021 champ and a two-time U.S. Open winner.

Brooks Koepka, who triumphed the last time the U.S. Open was held at Shinnecock Hills in 2018 as well as the year before at Erin Hills (2017), had a particularly rough second round. The five-time major champion shot +7 on Friday – one of the worst rounds of the day – and +10 for the tournament.

Bryson DeChambeau, who won at Pinehurst in 2024, and J.J. Spaun, who won at Oakmont last year, are also headed home. And Jon Rahm, the 2021 U.S. Open winner at Torrey Pines, will be joining them.

One recent winner fared far better; in fact, he’ll head into Saturday’s third round with a four-shot lead. Wyndham Clark, the 2023 U.S. Open champion, sits at -7 after two rounds and set a 36-hole record for the lowest score in a U.S. Open held at Shinnecock Hills.

The official cut line at the U.S. Open is 4 over. All golfers with a score of +4 or better – 72 in all – will make it to the weekend at Shinnecock Hills.

How is U.S. Open cut line determined?

The top 60 golfers (and ties) make the 36-hole cut at the 2026 U.S. Open. The cut line at last year's U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club was +7. The cut line during the 2018 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills wound up at +8.
