Charles Woodson Jr. follows father's footsteps, commits to Michigan football

Woodson Jr. committed to Michigan football on Friday, May 15, to play his collegiate football in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where his father was a star, winning a national championship and a Heisman Trophy.
Woodson Jr. made his announcement on Instagram.
The 2027 recruit is ranked as a three-star prospect and ranked N0. 804 overall in the class, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. He is also rated as the No. 82 safety and the No. 72 player from Florida in the class.
As a junior, Woodson Jr. recorded 73 tackles, eight pass breakups, two interceptions and a fumble recovery, leading Lake Nona (Orlando) to an 8-4 record and the regional semifinal of the 7A state playoffs in Florida. He also added a kickoff return for a touchdown.
He recorded 53 tackles, two PBUs, an interception and a fumble recovery during his sophomore season.
Of course, he has big shoes to fill. Hi father won the Heisman Trophy in 1997 for the Wolverines. He played for Michigan from 1995-97 and was a three-time All-Big Ten selection before embarking on a Hall of Fame career in the NFL.
Woodson Sr. was selected No. 4 overall in the 1998 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. During his NFL career — which included a stop with the Green Bay Packers — he made the Pro Bowl nine times, won NFL Rookie of the Year honors in 1998 and won Super Bowl XLV with the Packers in 2011.
